Sonu Sood barred from visiting polling booths

Due to allegations that he was influencing voters, the Election Commission has barred Bollywood actor Sonu Sood from attending polling booths in Moga.

Mavika Sood, Sood's sister, is the Congress party's candidate in Moga.

Sonu Sood's automobile was detained on Sunday, according to officials, to prevent him from going to booths. A supporter of Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Barjinder Singh alias Makhan Brar filed a complaint.

Sonu Sood, on the other hand, has disputed the charges.

He said, "I'm a local resident. I have not asked anyone to vote for any particular candidate or party. I was just visiting our (Congress) booths set up outside polling stations.”

In the meantime, District Magistrate Harish Nayyar has requested a report from Moga SSP.

“Sonu Sood was going from one polling booth to another, which some political parties found objectionable,” he said.

Sonu Sood turned to Twitter later in the day to accuse other party candidates of attempting to buy votes.

In a tweet, he tagged Moga's public relations office and police, “Other Candidates in #Moga Constituency are buying votes. @ECISVEEP should take immediate action regarding the same.”
